Hannah, You Make Me Better
In October of 2023, my then 4-year-old son, Luke, said to me, “Did you know my baby sister will be here soon?”
I asked, “What makes you say that?”
He replied, “She told me in my heart.”
I found out just days later we were expecting a baby. We did not know until delivery that our precious daughter, Hannah, has Down syndrome. There was a lot of shock when we found out, but never any shortage of love. We continue to fall more in love with Hannah every single day, exactly as she is. The same creator who made the ocean, the trees, and everything beautiful in this world also created my daughter. I want her to know she can overcome any obstacles in her path and that she will always have family and friends in her corner.
Hannah will have open heart surgery within the next few months. She is so small but so strong.
Hannah makes our family better and we know she will do great things. Her big brother says to her regularly, “If I could choose any sister in the world, I would choose you.”
I would choose her, too.
