Anyone is able to request a Jack’s Basket in celebration of a baby with Down syndrome!
If you are a parent welcoming your own baby, we especially encourage you to request one. The basket is a gift created just for your family, and requesting one for your child is exactly why Jack’s Basket exists. You don’t need to wait for someone else to request on your behalf or wonder if you’re “allowed” to ask. We’d be honored to celebrate your baby and support your family during this special time. Other family members and friends are all welcome to submit a Basket Request form as well.
Healthcare providers are also an important part of helping families receive Jack’s Baskets. More than one-third of our baskets are requested by a family’s healthcare provider. We are grateful to partner with medical professionals who play such a vital role in helping families feel supported from the very beginning.
Yes! If you’ve received a positive or high-likelihood result on a prenatal genetic screening, you’re welcome to request a Jack’s Basket right away. We want you to have support as soon as you need it, even if you are opting to wait to confirm the diagnosis until after birth.
Whenever possible, Jack’s Baskets are delivered in person by one of our trained parent volunteers who is raising a child with Down syndrome. More than a basket, this is an opportunity to meet another parent who has walked a similar path. Your volunteer can answer questions, offer encouragement, and help connect you with local resources, programs, and other families in your community.
If an in-person delivery isn’t available in your area, we’ll ship your basket directly to your home. You will also be offered the opportunity to connect virtually with a member of our parent volunteer team.
At this time, we are unable to facilitate parent connections for families outside of the United States, but we are honored to send a basket to celebrate your baby wherever you are.
We ship to all 50 US states and all over the world! We do our best to ship internationally, but we are unable to cover any customs fees that may arise. Please note, we are not responsible for any lost/stolen baskets. If you do not receive your basket within two weeks of the request, please email info@jacksbasket.org.
We believe that one of the best resources for families receiving a new diagnosis is another parent who has walked this road before. For that reason, each family that lives in the United States is given the opportunity and encouraged to connect with one of our parent volunteers! Even if the family lives outside of the area of one of our trained volunteers and is not able to receive an in-person delivery, we give every family the opportunity to connect remotely with one of our parent volunteers.
Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to facilitate parent connections with families who reside outside the United States.
All information exchanged is kept confidential and used to ensure the basket is given to the family in the most complete, specific, and timely manner. This includes customizing the contents of the basket based on diagnosis, gender, or language, and matching the best parent-volunteer when available. We respect HIPAA laws of privacy, and no information is shared without parental consent.
We use trends around diagnosis, language, and even hospital location to adjust basket contents, as well as to build awareness of the program as we work to reach and celebrate every baby.
