Live Training Opportunities
Bring Jack’s Basket to your Hospital, Institution, or Practice.
We believe that the most effective way to support families who will receive a Down syndrome diagnosis is to partner with medical providers to change the way the diagnosis is delivered. Our presentations engage, equip, and empower providers with tools to communicate and discuss the diagnosis accurately without bias. From Grand Rounds and staff meetings to academic presentations and student organizations, our “Communicating Unexpected News” live training adds crucial skills to any provider’s toolkit. These trainings are offered in both virtual and in-person formats to best meet the needs of your group.
By attending a “Communicating Unexpected News” training, attendees will be able to:
- Recognize sources of provider bias and the role communication plays in families’ diagnosis experiences
- Summarize recent data on parent perspectives and preferences when receiving a Down syndrome diagnosis
- Identify strategies for effectively presenting unexpected news to patients and families
