Alora, You Make Me Better

I don’t think anyone can fully prepare you for the moment a diagnosis enters the room.

When my daughter was born, and I heard the words “Down syndrome,” my heart felt like it was splitting in two.

There was immediate love.
But there was also fear I didn’t want to admit out loud.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of the future. Fear of whether I would be strong enough for the life ahead of us.

What I didn’t realize in that hospital room was how much this journey would change me.

Alora has stretched my heart in ways comfort never could.

She has taught me patience, courage, and a kind of love that doesn’t rush. She has taught me to celebrate small victories. To love without conditions or timelines.

Today I can clearly see that she didn’t come to make my life smaller.
She came to make my soul bigger.
