Miles, You Make Me Better

Miles makes everyone better! I think a common theme with Down syndrome, or knowing someone with Down syndrome is that they have the gift of slowing down time. Miles takes life and meets milestones at his own pace. He allows me to take the scenic route of life, enjoying and really appreciating all the little things he conquers. I am able to enjoy his baby qualities for a little longer because he IS a baby for longer! And I think that is such a blessing.
Miles is a magnet for good. We have welcomed the most incredible people into our lives since he was born. We have connected with the best therapists, we love our at-home nurse, and all the medical professionals who truly care about him and want to see him succeed. We are surrounded by good people who probably wouldn’t be in our life if it wasn’t for Miles and his Down syndrome diagnosis. Our village has loved on us (and him) even harder and supported us in so many ways. We have also taken many opportunities to look around and help make a difference in the Down syndrome community and reached far to try to help others who are walking the same path. Miles pushes us to be better people and I, as his mom, feel like I live a more important and fulfilling life because of him.
Miles has shown us another side of life that is so very valuable and we LOVE living alongside him. We know we will be teaching him a lot in this life, but something tells me that we will learn even more from him.
