Haru, You Make Me Better

When we found out our daughter, Haru, had Down syndrome, it was a moment filled with uncertainty. The doctors presented us with difficult choices, and we felt overwhelmed. But deep in our hearts, we knew we wanted to welcome Haru into our lives. Choosing to continue the pregnancy was a decision rooted in love, and holding Haru for the first time was one of the happiest moments of our lives.

From day one, Haru has been our little ray of sunshine. She lights up our lives with her infectious smile and joyful spirit. Sure, there have been challenges along the way, like the surgeries she had to undergo shortly after birth. When Haru was born, her bowel was partially blocked, which led to her first surgery the very next day. Just four months later, we found ourselves back in the ER, facing another surgery. It was a tough time, but Haru’s strength and determination were truly inspiring.

Throughout this journey, we have found a huge community that has provided us with guidance, valuable resources, and opportunities to connect with other families who understand what we are going through.

Haru has brought so much joy and color into our lives. The possibility of her having Down syndrome was something we never expected, but it’s a journey we’re grateful to be on. Every day with Haru is filled with love and happiness, and we’ve learned so much from her.
