Teddy, You Make Me Better

When Teddy was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth, we were taken aback. Our little boy had shown no visible signs of Trisomy 21 the entire pregnancy. We were scared and unsure of what our future held as parents to a special needs child. Teddy spent 3 weeks in the NICU before coming home. During those 3 weeks, we received our Jack’s Basket and got connected with so many amazing organizations and people who understood exactly what we were going through. I don’t think we could’ve made it through that time without them.

Teddy just turned 2 and is our greatest adventure as parents. He shows us how resilient he is every single day, facing every challenge with a smile or blowing us a kiss. He is adored by all who interact with him, especially his little brother who wants to be just like him. I wish I could tell myself 2 years ago that this is exactly what we were meant for. He is no different than any other toddler; he loves bubbles, ride-on toys, spending time at the park, and ALL the snacks he can have.

Teddy has made our lives so much happier than we could have ever imagined. He was purposefully put into our lives to change us for the better.
