Ada, You Make Me Better
“Over the course of Ada growing up, I’ve come to realize that I got everything I dreamed of. I want the world to know that she’s my dream come true. I tell Ada that every day. I tell her, “You’re my dream come true. You’re my dream girl.”. We don’t love her in spite of her diagnosis, we love her exactly for who she is, as she is. That’s where the dream may have come in a different way than I expected, but she’s still our dream come true.” – Mary Beth and Keith, Ada’s Parents
Ada’s story gave Carissa the motivation to start Jack’s Basket in 2014. She met them one month before Jack’s first birthday and hearing about their abrupt, assumptive, and insensitive diagnosis experience that was so similar to her own led to Carissa wanting to celebrate these beautiful lives. 10 years later, we were honored to share Ada’s story at our 2024 Gala.
