So beautifully said! Love you and your family! We are blessed to have you doing what you do and sharing your story to bring Down Syndrome to the front. We are never done learning, that is for sure.

I love this! My son who has DS is just 7 months and though I’ve heard the "I’m sorry" too many times to count, I’ve not yet dealt with the stares. I have always tayght my typucal children to say hello and reach out to those different from them, and when they have been curious I have gone so far as to hold their hands and walk up to someone and say, " my son is curious, can you tell us about your child." I hope someone will do this to us someday if they have questions .

Thank you . . . but we all know that "That DOES NOT suck"!
My grandson, Mason just turned 13 and is beginning 7th grade!
Our family is better because he happens to have an extra chromosome! -

I needed to hear this. Man, I needed to hear this. Even though my sweet boy doesn’t have DS – he is visually impaired and uses a cane to get around and every single day I pray that the paresnts of the children we interact with will be able to explain to their child that they don’t need to be scared of Jonas but that he too has been made in the image of God and it just happens to be that his cane helps him to navigate this world.
His cane does not define him.
Thank you for sharing your heart and putting words together that said so beautifully what so many of us mother can relate to. Xo. Laura -

Thank you for this! Now that I am a new mom, I often wonder how I will approach this subject when the time comes. I work with children w DS and my daughter has become part of the wonderful community too. I love the way you approached it to your child at age 4. Do u know of a resource that helps address this at all ages. There really isn’t a one size fits all answer. Thanks so much for your thoughts!
